Chiara focuses on Italian and European energy and environmental legislation. Before joining the law firm Macchi di Cellere Gangemi, she worked at Ecofys as energy and climate change consultant where she was responsible for energy and climate change related activities for regional and local governments. She was regularly involved in studies on renewable energy and energy efficiency incentive schemes at the national and European level as well as climate change and the European Emission Trading scheme. She has worked amongst others on several studies for the European Commission (DG TREN and DG ENV) on the legislation and the policies and measures at the Member States level for the development of renewable energy production and for the green house gases mitigation and adaptation.
She studied law at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. Prior to and after her graduation she worked in two law firms, acquiring experience in civil law, administrative law and European law. Upon her graduation she expanded her knowledge in environmental and energy law at the Catholic University of Leuven. She holds a master degree cum laude in International and European Environmental and Energy Law. Her final dissertation on environmental product standards has been published in ‘Griffin’s View on International and Comparative Law’ (published by the Vrije University of Amsterdam).
