Founder

Bruno Gangemi, founder in 1986 of Macchi di Cellere Gangemi, together with Luigi Macchi di Cellere, was an excellent tax lawyer, well known in Italy and internationally. In his long professional career he was always ranked as notable practitioner by the most presigious legal directories (Chambers, Legal500, Who’s Who, etc.).

Since he was a young lawyer, he was active in the IFA – International Fiscal Association (as a member of the Permanent Scientific Committee and Secretary of the Italian Branch) and the IBA – International Bar Association (as Chairman of the Tax Committee, in the Nineties). He was member of the Confédération Fiscale Européenne Tax Force on ECJ decisions and Chairman of the Technical Committee, member of the Panel of Experts on company taxation appointed by the EU Commission.

Founder of the Firm in 1986 with Luigi Macchi di Cellere. Senior partner in the tax department: his main area of work is the domestic and international
corporate and individual taxation, principally tax planning connected with estate planning, corporate reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions and tax planning of securitization projects. Assists Italian and foreign companies belonging to international groups; significant experience in tax litigation, especially on transfer pricing issues. Assists wealthy people and families in planning their investments in Italy and abroad structuring death and donation tax effective strategies.
He also acted as expert witness in relation to several international tax claims.

He obtained his Law Degree at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1962. He was granted a Scholarship from Fritz Thyssen Stiftung, for his studies at the University of Cologne and the Bonn Institute “Finanzen und Steuern” (1963-1965). He has also attended the courses on Comparative Tax Law organised by the Ecole Superieure de Sciences Fiscales, Brussels (1970) and the Seminar on American Law at the Salzburg Seminar.

He is also a member of the International Fiscal Association (member of the Permanent Scientific Committee and Secretary of the Italian Branch), of the American Bar Association (as “International Associate”), of the Associazione Nazionale Tributaristi Italiani, of the Confédération Fiscale Européenne (member of the “CFE Tax Force on ECJ decisions, Chairman of the Technical Committee 1996-2000). He has been Reporter at the Buenos Aires Congress in 1984, General Reporter at the Stockholm Congress in 1990, Discussion Leader at the Geneva Congress in 1996 and Member of the Panel Topic at the Copenhagen Congress in 2013. He has also been member of the Panel of Experts appointed by the EU Commission for a study on company taxation in the EU, 2001.
